Top Five Places to Travel Solo in the United States
With so many places to travel solo in the United States, how do you narrow down your options? Below are my top five places to travel solo in the United States.
The Great Smoke Out in the Northern Rockies:
Have you ever been on a hunt for a fire? That’s what you get out here! You see the trees are burning up and everyone panicking and running for their lives, and then when the smoke clears, you see one or two people trying to find firewood, but most just went back to the nearest shelter because it’s too cold!
To go where the wildfires used to come from is a great place to visit if you like solitude. If you want to go on an all-day trek with only yourself, that’s fine too! But it’s worth taking some friends along just in case.
That said, the entire state of Wyoming offers backpacking, hiking, and horseback riding all within the borders of the Great Smoke Out Wilderness. Even if you’re a solo traveler, you will be able to find something to do that interests you.
The Northern Lower 48:
Alaska is home to many of the Great Smoke Out forests in the Great Smoke Out Wilderness. The Northern Lower 48 includes all of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and Washington. It’s really a very diverse area, which includes more wilderness areas than anywhere else in the United States.
While the forests are still there, many have been harmed by logging practices, and bad weather has caused much of the forest to die off. It’s sad to see those forests go, but it was unavoidable due to the kind of conditions they are in. Take your time in Alaska, and take your family along too!
The Desert Southwest:
What better place to travel solo in the United States than the desert southwest! The deserts of Arizona, New Mexico, and California are absolutely breathtaking. While there are many possibilities for sites to visit, it is definitely an adventure to visit there. It is also a place where you can find great camping, and good music is a must.
It’s a never-ending adventure to find out what is going on at these places. You can rent vehicles and take tours, or just go hiking through the desert. It’s a great place to bring the whole family to visit, and the place that really give you a good idea of what it’s like to travel alone in the country.
The Sonoran Desert:
The Desert Southwest is a place that is full of sights, sounds, and smells, and is filled with people who love the place. You can find wildflowers in the desert, and desert landscapes that are literally as beautiful as the ones found on the rest of the planet.
In the desert, you can go exploring and driving, or you can just sit back and read a book. There is a lot of wildlife around there, and many desert flowers that can be found nowhere else in the world. Be sure to bring your camera to capture some of these sights for you and your family to enjoy!
The Mountain Regions:
There are some truly unique places to visit in the mountains. The Rocky Mountains is a natural wonder that can’t be beaten. Some of the mountains are popular for camping, but there are also stunning vistas for seeing, and some of the best wildflowers anywhere!
If you love the American West, you will not want to miss it. There are simply too many opportunities for tourists, and wild animals to ignore. Leave yourself wanting for more and take a hiking trip up into the mountains for an amazing view of the great outdoors.
