Portugal Lifts All COVID-Related Travel Restrictions For

On Friday, 1 July 2022, Portugal joined the list of nations to lift all COVID-related entry restraints for tourists; without needing to show a vaccination or recovery report. A senior official said that the number of Coronavirus infections and deaths has gone down drastically in the country.

Consequently, the government has decided to reopen tourism. And in a bid to promote tourism, all land and air routes are also open now. And also the international checkpoints of Italy will be reopened for overseas tourists and citizens. However, tourism was open for American travellers since June 2021.

Even though there are no more stringent rules and restrictions on travel and entry, visitors are advised to follow health and safety measures while in the country. Visitors are also advised to follow the mask mandate when using public transportation and indoor restaurants. Face coverings are mandatory only in healthcare and social welfare facilities.

Social distancing and other safety and health measures are to be taken while visiting public places like parks, national parks and zoos. The same is to be followed while using public spaces including heritage sites and other attractions.

The temporary travel restrictions and rules that were in place till June stand curbed for now. Travellers can now follow the entry rules that were in place before the COVID-19 pandemic.
