The first Lollapalooza was held in 1991 in Chicago. Since then it has developed into an annual event. It was created by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell who wanted to create a new kind of music festival that would feature acts from all over the world rather than just a few artists or bands from the same city. Hence, he saw it as a way to bring together many of the bands that he loved from the past and present. The event has since grown to become one of the largest music festivals in the world.
It is also known as one of the most successful festivals because it has been able to attract some of the biggest names in pop culture over time including Metallica, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, and, Kanye West.
