Located in Kui Buri District of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park is a park as well as a marine park in Thailand. Covering a vast area of 98.08 sq km, the Joint Biodiversity Park consists of 20.88 sq km as a marine park and the rest as a national park, including nearby swamps. Khao Sam Roi Yot takes its name from the sky-high limestone mountains that surround the park. The name of the park in English is: Mountain with Three Hundred Peaks.
About Kho Sam Roy Yot National Park
Established in 1966, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park was Thailand’s first coastal national park. The park also includes Thailand’s largest freshwater marsh. Located about 70 km south of Hua Hin on the southwest coast of Thailand, the place is a combination of a variety of ecosystems. Blessed with a combination of limestone mountains, caves, beaches, freshwater marshes, offshore islands and mangrove swamps, it is one of the best nature reserves in the world as such diversity is not seen in many places around the world. Although it is not really known for its biodiversity, the national park is home to about 316 species of birds and about 50 species of animals.

Best time to visit Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park
While the national park is open in all seasons like any other national park, the best season to visit the park is in winter due to the abundance of migratory birds in the park. December is the best month to visit the park and the best time to visit is between 4 pm to 5 pm. The park will take you an average of 1.5-2 hours. Plan your visit accordingly as the park is open from 8 AM to 5 PM.

You can reach Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park by air, train or road. It is easily available through all three mediums. We have listed below the information you will need to easily reach your destination. If you are taking a car, we suggest you start early to avoid traffic on the roads.
1. By Air: The nearest airport to Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park is Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. The national park is a 4-hour drive from the airport. The roads are very well maintained so there should be no problem.
2. By Train: The nearest SRT station to Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park is Sam Roi Yot Station. You can take a private taxi or a rental car from the station to reach the park.
3. By Road: You can take a taxi from Hua Hin to Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park. You can also hire a taxi from Bangkok and reach the destination after a 4-hour drive. You can also take a 4-hour drive from Bangkok via well-maintained roads and highways.

Places to Stay near Kho Sam Roy Yot National Park
Although there is no closing time for the non-forested portion of the park, most major attractions remain open until 5 pm. We recommend you to stay for a night and experience nature in all its glory. Places where you can spend a night are given below:
1. Government tents and camps
There are two places where tents are set up by the government for people who want to stay overnight. You can rent a tent at Laem Sala Beach and Sam Phraya Beach for less than 150 THB for 2 people, 225 THB for 3 people and 300 THB for 5 people. You can also rent sleeping kits for around 80 THB per person.

2. Government bungalows
The bungalows are located near the headquarters and only 2 bungalows are available for rent. One is 1000 THB for 5 people, while the other is 1400 THB for 5 people. Apart from this, if you book through the government portal between Mon-Thu, you can also avail discounts.
