Kashmir Will Get Its First-ever Multiplex In Srinagar After

Cinemas will be permitted to operate in Kashmir as of early this September, for the first time in more than 30 years. The first multiplex in Kashmir will open in Srinagar’s Shivpora area with three screens and with a seating capacity of approximately 520 people. The movie multiplex in Srinagar will have many food courts to attract youth and children besides providing them with the feel of the most modern cinema entertainment.

Bringing back cinema halls would represent a paradigm shift in Kashmir, which will encourage entertainment as part of a sweeping reform plan for a post-conflict era, despite opposition from a few conservative groups in Kashmir.

A new era of development in Kashmir

As a part of a series of social reforms, the government declared it would begin licensing cinemas immediately. The new development is expected to broaden the cultural sector and create new employment and training opportunities, as well as enrich the state’s entertainment options.

Besides just entertainment, the cinema industry will be a watershed moment in the development of the cultural economy in Kashmir.

Cinema returns to Kashmir after a decades-long ban in the state due to terrorist control in the region. The first movie multiplex is ready to provide entertainment to the youth of Kashmir.
