Lord Shiva’s abode Kailash Mansarovar is located in Tibet (China occupied territory). However, Indians from all walks of life can visit Kailash Mansarovar if they wish. To travel to Kailash Mansarovar, one has to register first, and due to Kailash Mansarovar being located in Tibet, a passport is also required. If you want to go on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, then you can also book a package and join a group of 30 people and complete the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra; no visa is required to visit Kailash Mansarovar.
How To Apply
Devotees can book the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra package from Uttarakhand’s Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam Limited website. You will first have to register with the KMVN website and to register it, you would first have to pay a non-refundable ₹ 5000 in advance to the KMVN people, and then you would be registered.
When the registration of 30 people in your group is completed, KMVN will tell you a specific time for your group to travel to Kailash Mansarovar. Suppose you have to start Kailash Mansarovar Yatra on the 25th of the month, and then you will be called to Delhi for a medical test on the 21st or 22nd of the same month.
After reaching Delhi, your medical will be done by DHLI (Delhi Heart And Lung Institute) and ITBP (Indo Tibbatiyan Border Force), which will include your body’s cholesterol, haemoglobin, blood pressure, blood sugar, urea and body mass index (25 or 25 should be less) as well as several other things, which you can see on the KMVN website.
After getting your body tested, if there is any medical issue in your report, then you will not be able to travel to Kailash Mansarovar. You will be sent back home and your non-refundable ₹ 5000 will not be refunded, so before registering for Kailash Mansarovar, do a medical examination of your body and focus on eliminating the medical issue of your body.
People below 18 years and above 70 years of age are not permitted to go on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Children below 18 years of age cannot travel to Kailash Mansarovar due to passport requirements, but people above 70 years of age should not even think of travelling to Kailash Mansarovar, because according to age your body there can be many problems.
One way travel is 54-55 km for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra; trekking is also possible. That is if you can cover a total of 110 km for Kailash Mansarovar. However, you will not have to go trekking with any of your belongings on your back. All your goods are delivered through KMVN. Keep in mind that the total weight of your luggage is 15 kg. Should not be more. Moreover, while trekking to Kailash Mansarovar, along with the guide, the security also stays with you to complete your trekking. Apart from trekking, you can also complete some distance by bus.
The journey to Kailash Mansarovar takes about 25-30 days. If everyone in your group is young and able to do a little bit of trekking, then you will be able to complete this journey in 25 days as well.
