The Hajj is a pilgrimage that Muslims perform once in their lifetime. The pilgrimage takes place during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah. During this time, pilgrims travel from around the world to perform the rituals of Hajj and Umrah.
What Is Hajj?
The Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, which all Muslims are obliged to perform at least once in their lifetime. It is a pilgrimage that involves all Muslims from all over the world, including those who live far away. The Hajj is a religious duty that must be performed at least once in a lifetime by every Muslim.
Hajj 2022 is a special time for Muslims worldwide as it will be happening after 2 years due to the increasing cases of Covid-19. The pilgrimage to Mecca requires Muslims to embark on one of the five pillars of Islam; these are fasting in the month of Ramzan, making a pilgrimage (or Hajj), and giving charity (Zakat). Many other things are done as well during this pilgrimage such as performing circumambulations around the Kaaba, praying at Arafat and Mina, slaughtering sacrificial animals along with prayers at Muzdalifa, etc.
Know when you should go?
According to Saudi religious rules, pilgrims should perform the Hajj after they have completed their Umrah (minor pilgrimage). That means if you have already performed your Umrah but haven’t finished your niyyah (intention), then it’s too late for you to perform the Hajj this year. If so, make sure to complete your niyyah soon after Ramadan ends so that all preparations can be done.
When Is Hajj 2022?
This year’s Hajj begins on 7th July 2022 and will be ending on 12th July 2022.
During this period all Muslims born in Mecca or who have visited Mecca in their lifetime are required to perform Hajj at least once in their life. The pilgrims carry out these rituals with strict adherence so that they can attain forgiveness from Allah for their sins committed against Him by following His guidance throughout life.
