Flights From India To Canada Likely To Resume From September

From Monday, September 27, 2021, Canada will ease the embargo on direct flights to India. According to the reports, Indian tourists and travellers will be allowed to travel to and from Canada starting at midnight on September 27. Nevertheless, passengers will still be subjected to federal health precautions such as pre-requisite tests and, in special cases, quarantine.

There will still be additional precautions in place for direct visitors to and from India:

Travellers must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test from the approved Genestrings Laboratory at the Delhi airport, taken within 18 hours of their direct trip to Canada’s proposed departure.

Pre-departure, flights will verify the passengers’ test results to guarantee that they are qualified to enter Canada and that fully vaccinated travellers have uploaded their information to the Arrive CAN mobile app or website. Passengers who do not satisfy these standards will be refused boarding.

Three direct flights from India arrived in Canada on September 22. Upon arrival, all passengers on these aircraft were tested for COVID-19 to confirm that the new precautions are effective.

In addition, once direct flights restart, Indian travellers who take an indirect route to Canada will still require a negative COVID-19 molecular test within 72 hours of departure.

In April, Canada suspended direct passenger and commercial flights between India and Canada, due to high coronavirus rates in both nations. Since then, only freight, medical, and military planes have been permitted to fly directly between the two nations.
Canada has also imposed a restriction on direct flights to Morocco, which will remain in place until September 29.
